I watched a BBC document about animal mothers and their babbys and it was good reference material for practicing some movement of animals. I love lions and all felines but augh lion dads are the worst ;^; sometimes they kill their own cubs, and they have no mercy at all for cubs that aren’t their own. Document is online with finnish narration in Yle Areena.
derp. lost my sanity and self-esteem to this picture, but, it was a good lesson :P
waiting anxiously for portfolio review, some of things I printed today, I’ll see what I can get printed tomorrow before it begins.. ..
The World’s gonna end but somehow I can’t be sad, when horizon looks so hopeful.
Wanted to draw my characters for a change, Orville (the one in the lead) and his friends. They live in Sam’s Town by the sea, it’s a place build on rock and where hardly nothing grows, but it’s buildings grows high and the rooftops are their home.
Something to just get off my head I suppose, so I didn’t put much time into it…
I made this font, “sukiyaki”, since it looks like a font used in a menu of restaurant. It’s slightly hiragana and art nouveau inspired grotesque typeface. Poster is made by me as well.
I started from sketching with hand and then used brush and gouache to make calligraphic letters. It helped a lot in getting some guide for contrast (which is very low in this font) and proportions. Final work is made with FontLab Studio.
I haven’t yet designed all the glyphs, but maybe I will? I guess it would be cool to have an own typeface.
Ace designer at work. This is the second typeface I’ve ever made, not quite finished yet though.
I need to come up with more sophisticated name for this font than “SUGOI FONT”
Spent whole yesterday afternoon sketching elephants, it was difficult to figure out how to make elephant look elephantish :’D dem legs I drew like billion elephant legs. Damn.
